Rony G. Flatscher, Author of "ScriptProviderForooRexx"
Rony G. Flatscher is the author of ScriptProviderForooRexx, an extension to OpenOffice.org
(OOo). ScriptProviderForooRexx is included in Prof. Flatscher's
"BSF4ooRexx" package,
which makes the programming language "Open Object Rexx
(ooRexx)" available to OOo. ooRexx is an easy to learn, easy to use, yet powerful
scripting language supported by the non-profit "Rexx Language
Association (RexxLA)" as an Open Source project.
Dr. Flatscher is a professor
of Business Administration and Business Informatics (German:
"Wirtschaftsinformatik")
at the WU (German:
"Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien")
in Austria, Europe, where
he can be
contacted.
Further Information and Links
Many electronic publications are available that relate to using BSF4ooRexx
(and its precursor,
"BSF4Rexx")
to interact with OpenOffice.org.
Student's Work
This web-site http://wi.wu-wien.ac.at/rgf/diplomarbeiten/
contains material related to OOo programming that may help students research basic technologies or
the creation of applications. It includes many examples of OOo programming, as well as Prof.
Flatscher's class material, seminar papers, and student Bachelor and Master theses. Be aware that
the technologies used in the older papers may have been superseded by enhanced versions that make
programming OOo even easier.
Helpful Articles
The following two articles may be helpful to gain a "taste" (fundamental concepts and
syntax) of the scripting language ooRexx and some (advanced) aspects of
BSF4ooRexx for the casual reader:

REXX, Introducing Object Rexx", paper for the ECOOP (European Conference on Object-Oriented
Programming) workshop "Revival of Dynamic Languages (RDL)", 2006, Nantes, France, Europe.

Helpful Links to Discussion Groups and e-Mail Lists
If there are questions about ooRexx or BSF4ooRexx then the following links may
prove to be helpful:
    -
The RexxLA private (members only) mailing list, cf.
        "Rexx Language Association (RexxLA)".

RexxLA is a non-profit association dedicated to users
and developers of the entire Rexx family of programming languages
on all computing platforms. This includes Classic Rexx,
            Regina,
            ooRexx,
            NetRexx
and others, running applications on hardware from the mainframe
to the smartphone. RexxLA is a group of very friendly and
helpful people, many of whom are professionals earning their living
            with their Rexx skills.
RexxLA was founded in 1989, at the 10th birthday of
            the Rexx language.

- The public netnews discussion group news:comp.lang.rexx,
for which various web-based interfaces exist (e.g. Google's group environment:
        http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.rexx/).

This low-volume discussion group is monitored by many sophisticated Rexx
programmers who are quite helpful. The authors of the various Rexx interpreters
and of various external Rexx function packages usually monitor this group and
may help out, if this appears to be necessary to them.

- The public ooRexx
Developer Mailing List (Sourceforge) is used by the ooRexx developers and
authors of ooRexx function and class packages and programmers who use ooRexx
or one of its function or class packages.

This is a low-volume, very interesting mailing list to monitor.
